Originally released years ago as a Valentine’s Day vinyl-only special edition, this single resurfaces in the middle of summer, where it fits just as perfectly as well! A strong mid-tempo rocker with an obvious Rolling Stones swagger, “Winning Combination” is melodic, clever, and well-produced. However, the secret winning combination on these tracks is the double-barreled guitar assault featuring two of Sacramento’s finest axe men on the same recordings: Steve Randall and Steve Amaral — double-Steve! The B-side to Kepi’s original composition is the satisfying rendition of Ramones rarity “I Want You Around.”
