From the Vault: Jem & Scout’s "There By Spring" (single) Drops 5/1
There’s a unique purpose in unearthing the hidden gems of California’s indie rock. On May 1st, we are releasing a true archival discovery: "There By Spring" from the Sacramento-based trio Jem & Scout.
This track is part of a series of ad-hoc abandoned '90s live recordings that have remained in the archives for nearly three decades. Tracked in 1997, "There By Spring" captures the raw, unpolished energy of a band in its prime. It sits at that perfect '90s intersection where melodic jangle meets a dry, room-heavy crunch—evoking the spirit of The Breeders and Teenage Fanclub.
By bringing these sessions to light in 2026, we aim to preserve a specific moment in the California DIY scene that still feels remarkably vital today. This release supports our mission of ensuring that legacy recordings find their rightful audience while honoring the artists who created them.

We are grateful for your support of independent music and the preservation of these legacy recordings.
