Little Wings

Discover Worlds of Wonder (album)

Kyle Field laid the heartfelt groundwork for Little Wings with his debut full-length, Discover Worlds of Wonder. Originally released in 2000 (with early CD pressings tracing back to 1999), this deeply endearing lo-fi record serves as the opening chapter of Field's self-described "Wonder Trilogy". With this record, Field establishes the unmistakable Little Wings signature: A wavering, vulnerable croon, simple acoustic lines, and a relentlessly forward-looking sense of optimism.

The album kicks off and closes with two distinct versions of "I Won't Be Burned," playfully adjusting its own hubristic optimism by the time the record ends. In between, tracks like the wistful "Sand Canyon" and the endearingly casual "Airport in Your Heart" highlight Field’s knack for turning simple observations into poetic gold. "The Shredder" introduces a beloved mythos into the Little Wings universe—a legendary character whose lore Field would revisit on later albums.
